Scholarship Criteria

The It’s A Family Affair Scholarship Board is committed to providing a fair, consistent, and confidential scholarship selection process.

Each applicant must be evaluated according to the published eligibility requirements and approved selection criteria for the specific scholarship for which they are applying. Board members should not add personal requirements or give preference based on personal relationships.

Current Scholarships

1. Louis Academic Award
This scholarship recognizes students who demonstrate academic achievement, commitment to their education, and a desire to continue pursuing their educational goals.

2. Vivian Impact Scholarship
This scholarship recognizes applicants who demonstrate a positive impact through service, leadership, personal character, or meaningful contributions to their family, school, or community.

3. Ray’s Resilience Scholarship
This scholarship recognizes applicants who have demonstrated resilience, determination, and perseverance while overcoming challenges or difficult circumstances and continuing to pursue their goals.

Scholarship Review Standards

During the review process, Scholarship Board members will:

  • Confirm that the applicant meets the eligibility requirements for the scholarship.
  • Review all required application materials.
  • Use the approved scoring rubric and reviewer score sheet.
  • Evaluate applicants fairly and consistently.
  • Consider only the criteria established for the particular scholarship.
  • Maintain applicant confidentiality.
  • Disclose any actual or potential conflict of interest.
  • Recuse themselves from reviewing or voting on an applicant when a conflict exists.
  • Document scores and recommendations as required.
  • Participate in the approved final selection process.

Fair and Impartial Selection

Scholarship decisions will be based on the established eligibility requirements, application materials, approved evaluation criteria, and Scholarship Board selection process.

No applicant is guaranteed a scholarship. Scholarship Board members may not individually promise or guarantee an award to an applicant.

Final scholarship recipients must be selected and approved through the established scholarship selection and authorization process of It’s A Family Affair.
