Scholarship Board Member Duties & Acknowledgment

To be completed by each person serving as a Scholarship Board Member who is not completing the Chair or Vice Chair position-specific acknowledgment.

Scholarship Board Members are responsible for:

  • Attending Scholarship Board meetings and participating in authorized scholarship activities.
  • Reviewing assigned applications objectively and according to the published eligibility requirements and approved scholarship criteria.
  • Using the approved scoring rubric and reviewer score sheet consistently.
  • Maintaining the confidentiality and privacy of applicant information and Scholarship Board discussions.
  • Not sharing applications, scores, passwords, or confidential scholarship records with unauthorized individuals.
  • Disclosing actual or potential conflicts of interest and recusing themselves when required.
  • Participating respectfully and impartially in scholarship discussions and selection decisions.
  • Avoiding favoritism, discrimination, personal preference, or requirements that are not part of the approved scholarship criteria.
  • Completing required review and selection documentation accurately.
  • Handling scholarship records according to the organization’s recordkeeping procedures.
  • Supporting the mission and approved scholarship procedures of It’s A Family Affair.
  • Never individually promising, guaranteeing, or awarding a scholarship to an applicant.
